Kent Waldrep, a rising football star at Texas Christian University, was paralyzed by injury. As a result, he started the American Paralysis Foundation to promote the cause of the disabled and to seek a cure for spinal cord injuries. He was appointed to the National Council on Disability and helped lead the fight for the passage of the historic Americans with Disabilities Act.
Currrently, Kent's efforts to find a cure for chronic paralysis are channeled through the Kent Waldrep National Paralysis Foundation.
Susan Mary Malone is a journalist, an author of books of fiction and non-fiction, and a winner of the distinguished Ed Mathis award for fiction in 1993. She is a native Texan who for seven years managed a 300 acre cattle ranch in Central Texas, and now resides in Colleyville.
