Compositions
- Chelsea Lee - This waltz was inspired by and named for the daughter of a friend (A.G. Robeson) upon her arrival into this world.
- Blues for Jurek - I wrote this for Jurek Bezucha, a wonderful drummer I worked with while living in Germany. He has since departed this life. I will miss him. I dedicate this performance to his widow Eva.
- End the Beguine - Although I arranged this song, I wish I had written it as well. It was composed by Chris Hirson; an American soprano saxophonist living in Augsburg, Germany. (I had the privilege of giging with Chris while living there.) This selection brings Larry Spencer’s trumpet into the mix. I was pleased to have him contribute his playing - as well as his production experience to my project; Thanks Larry!
- Monk’s Bounce - This is loosely based on a melody I heard on a soundtrack of a Japanese movie (the name of which I have long since forgotten). We had a lot of fun with this one!
- Prelude - Although not written with this in mind; I feel that this composition somehow reflects the melancholy of failed relationships.
- Altered Circuits - I wrote this some time ago. It has gone through many variations to finally arrive at this odd version of the blues (40 bars in the key of A major). I always enjoy playing with Ed. He is a never ending source of inspiration and creativity, and is a wonderful musician. This performance goes out to Albert and Roswell.
- Family Suite
pt 1 - “still lost in thought” (for Jan)
pt 2 - “A.B.C.” (for Angel Crockett)
pt 3 - “Anna’s song (for my daughter Arianna)
- Into the Light - In this composition, I try to portray the struggle of the escape from negative to positive energy, as it relates to day to day existence.
